Colors, wine and good energy

Conceived as a relaxed way to unwind with painting and a glass of wine, in an atmosphere that blurs the line between art and entertainment, the Paint and Wine concept was created as a unique experience combining creativity and socializing. We spoke with the founder of the concept, Tamara Radulović, about this creative escape from everyday life through a modern form of entertainment.

C.M: When and how did you decide to bring the “Paint and Wine” concept to Podgorica?

Paint and Wine Podgorica was “born” in January 2023. While living in Croatia, I attended similar workshops, and they became my way of escaping everyday life for a while, forgetting obligations and stress, and improving my mood by creating something with my own hands — even though I consider myself completely untalented when it comes to art.
After returning to Montenegro, I wanted to continue with that practice, but I realized there was no similar concept in our city. The idea came to life at the exact moment when I wanted to try entrepreneurship alongside my regular job. I loved the thought of Podgorica offering a type of outing that wasn’t just “going for coffee” or partying, but was still urban and interesting.

I was worried about how the market would react, but even during the announcement phase it became clear that people might recognize the value of the concept.

C.M: What makes the “Paint and Wine” experience different from traditional art workshops?

Paint and Wine is not intended for learning painting techniques or improving artistic skills — it is designed so that complete beginners can participate as well. Our workshops are primarily intended for amateurs and people with no painting experience or talent.
You don’t need weeks to create your personal “masterpiece” — just two hours with us. People are always fascinated by how beautiful all the paintings turn out at the end of the workshop, even though a large percentage of guests walk in saying: “But I don’t know how to paint, I haven’t painted since elementary school.”

The focus is on enjoyment — guests are welcomed with all the necessary materials, an instructor who guides them step by step, top-quality Montenegrin wines and a relaxed atmosphere.

C.M: How do you choose workshop locations?

First of all, there are certain technical requirements we need to meet when selecting a venue. Beyond that, we look for locations that could inspire our guests — places with a beautiful view, atmosphere or story.
It is important to us that the workshop hosts share our vision of quality service, appreciate creativity and respect art. We always try to organize workshops in new locations and create fresh experiences.

So far, these have included Besac Fortress, Monte 1350 Bar on Lovćen, Eagle’s Nest ethno village, Livada Bar, Haizea Kamenovo and many others. We love when the first thing guests say upon arrival is “wow.”

C.M: Who makes up the “Paint and Wine” team and how are roles divided during the workshops?

People are usually surprised when they hear that Paint and Wine is run by a team of eight people.
The workshops are led by instructors Anastasija Jokanović, Ivana Burić and Marija Vukićević, who prepare the process and guide guests through the painting experience.

The atmosphere is further enhanced by Ivana Stanić and Marija Pupović, who welcome guests, introduce the wines and take care of the overall ambiance.

My sister, Tea Radulović, is the studio and social media manager, responsible for business quality and promotion.

Behind the organization are Marija Šutović, who manages operations, procurement and design, and myself, in charge of administration, partnerships, strategy and business development.

C.M: How do you choose the painting motifs?

For studio workshops, we choose motifs we recognize as most popular among our audience. These are usually feminine themes and beautiful landscapes. There is always high demand for these workshops.
At the same time, we try not to limit ourselves and aim to offer something that might spark everyone’s interest.

On the other hand, when we organize outdoor workshops, we try to create themes that reflect the location where we are painting.

A third situation is when we organize private workshops for companies — in those cases, guests can request paintings aligned with their brand identity.

C.M: In addition to “Paint and Wine,” you have also developed formats such as “Neon Paint & Cocktail” and “Paint & Kids.” Tell us more about them.

Paint & Kids — or as we like to call it, the baby version of Paint and Wine — was created with the idea of giving parents and children a space to spend quality time together through creativity and play. The format is the same as the original, except that wine is replaced with juices and sweets.
Neon Paint & Cocktail is another creative format where participants paint with fluorescent colors under UV light, making the artworks glow in the dark, while cocktails replace wine.

These workshops are even simpler than the original concept and require even less artistic talent.

A place where people choose painting and wine again and again

Tamara points out that the feeling participants leave with is the key indicator of the success of their work, because their goal is for guests to leave the workshop fulfilled, satisfied, refreshed and smiling.

It was precisely from that sense of gratitude, she says, that their loyalty program was created, offering benefits for returning guests — including some who have attended workshops more than 15 times and today hold a special status, not only as premium members, but also as friends of the studio.
