It is not about who has, but who knows how

Text: Sanja Golubović

March has spilt over to April – just like when all of a sudden sprouts and violets sprout: we do expect them, yet we get surprised when we spot them. We generally hope that the same will happen with the summer season which should start at least in April, that tourist will come and surprise us and that there is going to be some super season. Yes, it has to be like that … Because we are like a beauty who relies on what she was born with, forgetting about the value of what she knows and is capable of.

March was dynamic like skiing on our mountains and bathing in the sea in the same day. Snow under your feet in the morning, sunlight on your face in the afternoon. We can both ski in April, there is still snow, and take a plunge in the sea, the photographs confirm this, while in the valleys there are ploughed fields, blossoming fruit trees, blooming early flowers… How ingeniously incapable we are to use this asset of ours, our beauty of contrast and infinite possibilities to attract tourists, those snowy mountaintops towering above the warm blue sea… the old saying seems to be true: “It is not about who has, but who knows how.“

Wild-grown primrose flower is the herald of spring. It sprouts early, while snow is still there. Its colour and scent remind us of new beginnings, of carefully shaped growth and harmony. It comes out in the shade where sunlight can hardly get, but on the healthy soil, in the forest of oxygen – fighting for life. Seeing it, brings smiles to our faces – and we know that everything is possible but only if we grow in harmony with the nature around us.

Our new stories were created in the same rhythm. We have recorded the first episodes of the future Coffee withs Caffe podcast– spontaneously, sincerely, with the feeling that the time has come for a different format of interview, the one which does not rush and does not act.

There was also wine, wine fairs and salons, more than ever before – from Herceg Novi, through Podgorica and Budva, to Bar… series of encounters filled with aromas, talks and understanding which is created around a glass of good wine. Several intensive events which demonstrate that the audience is capable of recognizing quality when you approach it without exaggeration. We are growing as a wine country, our winemakers participated at the famous ProWein Fair in Dusseldorf under the auspices of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro – the world knows now that we are here, ready to compete with the best, only to find out how things should be done.

People follow the rhythm of the Earth. Consciously or unconsciously, we try to grow healthy, not to rush, not to overpower nature, but to adjust to it. And while we try to keep that natural rhythm, the world around us often disturbs it. When the Earth is shaken by wars, geopolitical turmoil or global insecurities, we try hard to find our pace and oxygen in our own lives. It is reflected everywhere: in the way we travel, where we stay, how long we stay and what we appreciate and remember. But what is felt most at every level of growth is not the quantity. But the change in taste, of everything. The spaces have started speaking in a lower voice. There is less need for asserting, more for a feeling. The materials are warmer, the lines are simpler, and the atmosphere is what is remembered. New stories happen at the table. The tastes are clear, the compositions balanced, and time regains its value. And there is effect – but the essence is in the foreground. More and more often we choose what we feel good about, and not what is imposed.
