Direct flights to more than 60 destinations

The summer tourist season in Montenegro brings a significant expansion of air traffic, offering passengers at Podgorica and Tivat airports direct flights to more than 60 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

According to the published summer flight schedule of Airports of Montenegro, this year’s season will be marked by a strong presence of major European and global airlines, as well as the introduction of new seasonal routes that will further improve Montenegro’s connectivity with key source markets.

FLIGHTS

From Podgorica Airport, passengers will be able to fly during the summer to numerous European cities, including Barcelona, Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Rome, Milan, Paris, London, Budapest, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Athens, Bratislava, Brussels, Warsaw, Zurich, and Tel Aviv. Destinations also include Almaty, Astana, Antalya, Izmir, and Ankara, further strengthening Montenegro’s connection with the Turkish and Central Asian markets.

Special attention is drawn to routes to Sicily, Gdańsk, Katowice, Kraków, Vilnius, Poznań, and Wrocław, which will be operated by Ryanair, Wizz Air, and Air Montenegro.

At the same time, Tivat Airport will be one of the most important air gateways to the Montenegrin coast during the summer months. Direct flights from Tivat will be available to Amsterdam, London, Paris, Madrid, Munich, Frankfurt, Geneva, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, Stockholm, Dubai, Kuwait City, Baku, Yerevan, Riga, Tallinn, Warsaw, and Zurich.

A large number of tourists is also expected thanks to routes from the United Kingdom. Tivat will be connected to London airports Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, and Stansted, as well as Manchester, Birmingham, and Bristol.

This summer, numerous renowned airlines will operate flights to Montenegro, including Lufthansa, British Airways, easyJet, Turkish Airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle, LOT Polish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, flydubai, Luxair, Austrian Airlines, and the national carrier Air Montenegro.

A significant number of routes will operate year-round, including flights to Belgrade, Istanbul, Vienna, Budapest, Dortmund, Milan, and London, further confirming Montenegro’s growing importance on the regional and European aviation map.

A greater number of airline routes also means more tourists arriving in Montenegro, which in turn increases spending during the tourist season. Every new flight practically brings new visitors who use hotels, private accommodations, restaurants, beaches, rent-a-car services, taxi transport, excursions, shops, and numerous other tourism-related services.

INCREASED REVENUE

Tourism experts point out that strong air connectivity directly impacts tourism industry revenues, as modern travelers today choose destinations they can reach quickly and easily. For this reason, direct flights from major European cities increase Montenegro’s competitiveness in the Mediterranean market.

In addition to hotels and hospitality businesses, airports, the aviation industry, and supporting sectors also benefit. More passengers mean higher revenues from airport taxes, services, parking, business space rentals, and other activities related to air transport.

During the summer months, the demand for seasonal labor also increases, meaning that a richer flight schedule indirectly contributes to the creation of new jobs in tourism, hospitality, transportation, and retail.

On the other hand, the state generates higher revenues through taxes, tourist taxes, and overall tourism spending. Economists often emphasize that tourism in Montenegro has a multiplier effect, because the money tourists spend does not remain only in hotels but flows into many other sectors of the economy.

For this reason, the development of air transport is now considered one of the key factors of economic growth for tourism-driven countries such as Montenegro.

A broad flight network represents a strong boost to the tourism economy, while also serving as an important connection for the diaspora and business community, especially during the summer months when a large influx of visitors from Europe and around the world is expected.

According to data published on the official website of Airports of Montenegro, special attention this year is focused on increasing terminal capacity, reducing congestion, and improving passenger services during the peak summer season. All of this confirms that Montenegro is becoming an increasingly important destination on the European aviation map year after year, with growing interest from international airlines and the continuous expansion of direct flight routes.
